Started a new project... finally!

I haven't crocheted much in the past year. After moving last year, trying to make this new house a home, and simply having my time occupied by other things, I just didn't feel much desire to. But I recently found out that my best friend's niece is pregnant again, so I started a new blanket for her. She's only about 9 or 10 weeks along, so she has no idea what sex the baby is - so I chose a gender-neutral color.

It's going to be just a run-of-the-mill granny square afghan, but the yarn I'm using is American - you just can't find yarn like this out here. It was one of the many things that I'd inadvertently left behind when we moved from the US to the UK, and my grandmother sent it to me last summer.

I was helping grandma pull some stuff out to see what I wanted, and we found a HUGE bag of yarn that had belonged to our Mother! We found it in the basement!

I bought some yarn but I have not been able to understand what I am doing with it yet.

Hi suzi,

You dont know me but I was reading an old post of yours at crochetville, which led me to your blogs, which led me to your blog for Syrina. I left you a PM at crochetville but looking at the last time you posted, its been awhile since you've been there.

I read your Syrina blog and it opened my eyes to alot. My head was reeling with all these thoughts. Long story short...please give Syrina a GREAT BIG GENTLE HUG from me and my DD who just turned 5. After reading, I hugged and kissed her over and over and told her how much I loved her and how proud I was of her. Dont get me wrong, I do this ALL the time, and I thank God for her everyday, BUT after reading your blog...something changed in me. A light went off...something snapped. I looked at my precious daughter in a way I havent looked at her in a long time. Thank you and thank Syrina for that. Bless you and your family, may all you dream of be yours.

Jackie - yeah, I know. :) She called me and told me all about it. She was wondering what she should do with it. If the shipping wasn't so damned expensive, I would have told her to just send it to me (not like I wouldn't make use of it, y'know ;) )!

Anonymous - THANK YOU! :) Syrina and I are both glad (okay, maybe I'm putting words in Syrina's mouth, but I'll BET she IS glad) that we shed some light for you.
